The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) arranged an Industry Interaction Session for Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) R&D organizations with its member companies on 29th Nov 2016. In the meeting, National Institute of Electronics (NIE), Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET), and Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) enlightened the members with an overview of their capabilities and expertise, and solicited need based proposals from the industry.
Senior officials of the Chamber including Senior Vice President FCCI Rana Sikandar Azam and Vice President FCCI Engineer Ahmed Hassan coordinated the meeting. Managing Director STEDEC Syed Raza Abbas Shah highlighted that STEDEC views linkages of MoST R&D organizations with various chambers that have direct interaction with the industrialists as important as these guide R&D organizations towards market driven research which could then lead to successful commercialized. Director General NIE Brigadier (Retired) Basharat Mahmood also stressed the importance of close liaison between academia, industry and R&D organizations and informed that NIE has developed six layered circuit board which could be used in developing latest and hi-tech electronic goods. He further added that local manufactured solar panels, where PCRET can advise as well as provide, are of better quality and more economical than the imported ones. Regional Director PCRWR, Mr. Zamir Soomro, said that they are ready to facilitate industries based in Faisalabad in better management of their water resources.
